YELLA BELLY BASH 2026 Terms and conditions • Lake Burrinjuck Resort 3–4 October 2026 • Woolgarlo, NSW Final version • 25 September 2026
1. Organiser and contact
The event is organised by Lake Burrinjuck Resort, ABN 31 375 170 375, 590 Woolgarlo Road, Woolgarlo NSW 2582. Contact the resort shop on 0400 059 021 or admin@lakeburrinjuck.com.au for registration, entry enquiries or concerns about a result.
2. Two independent entry options
Participants may register for either or both of the following:
- Main fishing competition: $10 for entrants aged 16 and over; free for under-16s. This covers the largest-fish categories and the two daily photo awards.
- Separate free mystery-length promotion: free for all ages. No purchase, accommodation booking, payment or entry into the main competition is required. No registration, sticker or administration fee applies to mystery-only entrants.
Mystery-only entrants are eligible only for the two mystery-length prizes. Paying for the main competition gives no advantage in the mystery promotion. Visitors and resort guests are welcome. Ages are assessed on 3 October 2026. Under-16s require signed consent from a parent or legal guardian and appropriate supervision. Participation does not include childcare. People conducting the mystery promotion, including choosing its targets or determining its winners, and people involved in managing Lake Burrinjuck Resort are not eligible for the mystery promotion. Other staff may enter if they do not fall within these exclusions. Staff and organisers entering the main competition are subject to the same entry and judging rules as other entrants; an entrant must not judge or verify their own entry.
3. Registration
Register in person at the resort shop during opening hours from the campaign launch, before fishing. Registration for both options closes at 4pm on Saturday 3 October 2026. Late arrivals may register until that time, but catches made before registration are ineligible. If you intend to begin fishing at 7am Saturday, register during shop hours beforehand. Select your entry option(s), complete the registration and consent form, pay any applicable main-competition fee and collect your free numbered entrant sticker. Responding “Going” to a Facebook Event does not complete registration. Bring your own brag mat. The shop can supply a Fisheries fish-length measuring sticker if needed. This is separate from your numbered entrant sticker, which must appear in each measurement photograph.
4. Fishing period, location and safety
Fishing opens at 7am on Saturday 3 October and closes at 1pm on Sunday 4 October 2026. Only fish caught by the registered entrant after registration and within this period are eligible. Fish from the bank or a boat anywhere on Lake Burrinjuck where fishing and access are lawful. Entry does not permit access to private land or restricted areas. Follow current NSW fishing, species, size, bag, licence and boating requirements. Handle fish responsibly and comply with lawful directions and local restrictions. Entrants are responsible for their own equipment, supervision and safe decisions on the water. All times are local NSW time. Daylight saving starts on Sunday 4 October: clocks move from 2am to 3am. Sunday deadlines are Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT).
5. Measuring and photographing a catch
For each fish, provide two photographs:
- A clear, unaltered measurement photo showing the entire fish, nose at zero, complete tail, readable measurement scale and your issued numbered entrant sticker.
- A photograph of the angler with that fish.
Use a brag mat or Fisheries fish-length measuring sticker. Record total length in centimetres to the nearest clearly visible scale increment. An obscured or unreadable length will not be guessed. Keep the original photographs available for verification. You may submit an unlimited number of different fish. Each fish may be entered only once, by its catcher. False, duplicate or unverifiable entries may be excluded.
6. Submitting entries
Submit both photographs together through the official Yella Belly Bash Facebook Event submission route by 2pm on Sunday 4 October 2026. Follow the pinned entry instructions. Include your entrant number, angler’s first name, fish species, length in centimetres, and local catch date and time. If a post contains multiple fish, clearly label each photo pair and its details. If you cannot post, send both photographs and all required details to the park mobile, 0400 059 021, by the same deadline. Staff will post on your behalf. A parent or guardian may submit for a junior; children do not need a Facebook account. Personal Timeline posts or Instagram tags alone are not entries. An entry must be complete and valid by the deadline. Any required correction must also be received by then. Receipt or acknowledgement does not confirm eligibility or a prize.
7. Prize pool
All prizes are Lake Burrinjuck Resort shop vouchers. The total advertised prize pool is $1,100:
- Mystery yellowbelly length 1: $250.
- Mystery yellowbelly length 2: $250.
- Largest yellowbelly — Open: $150.
- Largest yellowbelly — Women aged 16 and over: $100.
- Largest yellowbelly — Under 16: $100.
- Best angler-and-fish photograph — Saturday catch: $75.
- Best angler-and-fish photograph — Sunday catch: $75.
- Largest redfin: $50.
- Largest carp: $50.
Only participants registered for the relevant entry option can win its prizes. Prize eligibility is subject to these rules and verification of the catch.
8. Largest-fish categories and ties
Open yellowbelly includes all eligible main-competition entrants, including women and juniors. Award Open first. The Open winner cannot also receive the Women’s or Under-16 yellowbelly prize; that division prize goes to the next eligible angler in the division. Girls under 16 compete in Under-16 and Open, not Women’s. A fish can win only its highest applicable largest-yellowbelly category prize. For equal-length fish, the earliest complete valid submission of that length wins. Use the Facebook Event submission timestamp for direct entries, or the time the park mobile received both photographs and all required details for staff-assisted entries. Staff posting or review delays do not affect priority. If an entry required correction, use the time it first became complete and valid. Catch time and shop registration time do not determine this tie-break.
9. Daily photo prizes
Organisers choose the eligible angler-and-fish photograph that best captures “having fun fishing” for each catch day. The awards are based on the day the fish was caught, not the day its photographs were submitted. Both are judged after submissions close on Sunday. Likes and shares do not determine winners. The two daily photo prizes must go to different people: maximum one photo prize per person. A catch may win a length-category prize and a photo prize, and may also qualify for a mystery prize if the entrant registered for that promotion.
10. Free mystery-length promotion
This promotion applies to eligible yellowbelly catches submitted by participants who opted in at registration. Free-only participants and those also entering the main competition have identical mystery eligibility and submission requirements. Before fishing opens at 7am Saturday, organisers select two target lengths and seal them in separate envelopes numbered 1 and 2. Both remain sealed until the presentation at 3pm Sunday. They are opened and awarded in that order. For each target, the closest eligible fish without going over wins: an exact match ranks first; otherwise rank eligible fish from longest to shortest below the target. Fish longer than the target cannot win that mystery prize. Equal lengths use the complete-submission timestamp rule in section 8. You must be present at the Sunday presentation when your mystery prize is announced. If absent, the prize passes to the next eligible participant in the ranked order who is present. Continue down that order as necessary. Each person can win a maximum of one mystery prize. After prize 1 is awarded, exclude its winner from prize 2. The same fish may win a main category, a photo prize and a mystery prize where the entrant is eligible for each.
11. Presentations, activities and voucher conditions
The free BBQ, presentations and mystery-length reveal start at 3pm on Sunday 4 October. The BBQ location will be announced on the Lake Burrinjuck Resort Facebook Page and Event. BYO drinks or purchase drinks from the bottle shop. Saturday’s kids movie time and location will also be announced on Facebook. Attendance is compulsory for mystery-prize winners as described above. Other winners do not need to attend and may collect their vouchers from the resort shop later. Prize vouchers are valid for 12 months from issue, with the expiry stated on the voucher. They may be transferred or gifted. Each voucher must be used in one transaction; any unused balance is forfeited and cannot be carried forward. Vouchers exclude fuel and alcohol. These conditions do not limit any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Photographs, personal information and permission
Registration and catch information is collected to administer the event, verify entries, contact participants and award prizes. Registration forms and contact details are not to be published. Submitted Facebook Event photographs and entry details may be publicly visible, including submissions made by staff on an entrant’s behalf. The registration form includes a separate yes/no choice for promotional reposting of submitted photographs on the resort’s Facebook and Instagram pages for this event and its recap. Declining promotional repost permission does not affect eligibility. A parent or legal guardian makes this choice for an under-16 entrant. The person giving permission must be entitled to do so for people shown. Repost credit may use an angler’s first name only. This permission does not cover unrelated advertising or paid advertising; separate permission is needed for those uses. Contact the resort to request a correction or removal from its own channels or to raise a privacy concern.
13. Verification, concerns and changes
Organisers may request original photographs and information reasonably needed to verify an entry. Winners are determined by the published rules, with a second staff member checking proposed results. Raise entry or result concerns with the resort shop or park mobile promptly so the evidence can be reviewed. Any necessary event or rule changes will be communicated through the resort’s Facebook Page, Event and/or this website, subject to applicable law. Nothing in these terms excludes statutory rights or lawful complaint avenues.
14. Facebook and Instagram
This event and promotion are not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook or Instagram. Entrants release Facebook and Instagram from responsibility for the promotion to the extent permitted by law. Entry information is provided to Lake Burrinjuck Resort, not to Facebook or Instagram as organisers. Following the Page is a way to receive updates, not a condition of prize eligibility. Sharing on a personal Timeline or tagging friends is not required to enter.
